Each month we join together in activities to help us learn more about the community where we live and the people in it, and to give us ways to make a difference.
If you're interested in serving at a food pantry, an animal shelter, a retirement home, a nursing facility, a hospital, a school, in the parks, or wherever ... let us know. We have monthly service days, and we'd welcome you to take part!
We also support the work of Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) organization called SERVE, as they work to make a tangible difference for people right in our neighborhood.
SERVE Ministry Needs Plastic Grocery bags!
We will be making blankets for the homeless out of plastic grocery bags!
Recyclable, washable, water-repellent and warm, this is a wonderful way to help the homeless and reuse all those extra plastic grocery bags we all collect!
It's easy, fun, and rewarding! Here's all we need:
lots of plastic grocery bags
volunteers to stay after church to learn how to make them!
We'll be starting this ongoing project THIS Sunday, so please bring your extra bags and stay after church to learn how. No experience necessary! We'll be collecting bags all summer long.
Also, please mark your calendars to join the SERVE Ministry on Sunday, July 16 at 5:00pm when we'll be preparing and serving a meal to families in need at the shelter. Sign up coming soon.
And a BLOOD DRIVE will be happening in August
We also take ongoing donations of non-perishable food items
for those in need. Please drop them off in the collection container downstairs.
If you'd like to be a part of the planning of this very fulfilling ministry, please see Kathy Panther.
